1. Awareness
You must be aware of everything on the battlefield to make proper strategic decisions. Ask yourself: What are enemies and allies doing? Are we winning or losing on influence? What are the current threats? Having these questions answered will help with decision-making in the heat of the moment.
Pro Tip:
Regularly check the minimap for a broad bird's eye view of the Map. Doing this periodically helps with improving your awareness in future battles.

2. Aggression
Controlled aggression forces opponents to react and helps your team achieve objectives to win the match (i.e., acting as a distraction for your teammates to capture the center, putting pressure on your enemies, or trading Mechs to kill important targets).
However, that isn't to say more aggression is always good. Excessive aggression, especially if it's pointless, can heavily backfire, leading to unnecessary losses. On the other hand, being slow and timid is also bad, as this leaves you vulnerable to opposing pressure and enemy attacks. Remember to get aggressive only when necessary.
3. Adaptability
Since MA battles are usually short (3-4 minutes on average for CPC), every second counts. You should know how to adapt to any situation quickly, considering your and opponents' Mech builds, Maps, positioning, etc. Having even the slightest advantage can be the difference between victory and defeat.
You'll eventually gain more experience, so keep playing and improving from your mistakes.
